In good mission - help for the poor

One of our animal welfare officers was on a good mission in her home country, Slovakia, and has delivered two interesting preliminary reports: "Give away dog and cat food in Slovakia October 2011". The animals fill human life on a large scale. Whether these are children who have their pet favorites, or young people and young couples. Even older people who just do not want to be alone. Nowadays almost every household has at least one pet. Mice, rats, hares, parrots and so on are the pets that the people in the cities have. Then follow the more demanding pets, like dogs and cats. These are pets that both urban residents and people from rural regions have. Why more demanding?

Dogs and cats need more space, more time and above all, which costs us a lot of money, they need much more food. That's where we come into play: Our organization has helped less well-off people in Slovakia to supply their loved ones. On the 19th of October in the morning, I started off with a big car, an Iveco, in Vienna, and into Slovakia to a small village named Nova Straz. There is a small shop for dog and cat food there. After a consultation with the business owner, I was already expected and the dry food was prepared for me. I bought different varieties of dog dry food. 100 10 kg bags and, another variety, 70 15 kg bags for larger dogs. There was also salami for dogs, with two different flavors, of which I also bought. I only bought 50 10 kilogram sacks of cat food because cats are smaller than dogs, so they eat less. After picking up almost three tons of food, I paid the goods and started to load the Iveco with the help of the seller.

Above are shown all the places where I was with animal protection officers.

We couldn't distribute all the food at once. The first charge, a bit over a ton, was distributed to needy people in the village. The rest of the food was left in the shop. The next day, very early in the morning, I got another load, about 1250 kilograms. We stowed away the remaining five to six hundred kilograms in the car of another animal protection officer. The following day we carried out the distribution of forage with his car. It was much easier to drive around with the smaller car, especially the constant opening and closing of the Iveco's loading gate was a bit more difficult. In the two days, we distributed almost the entire amount of food. We worked until 11 p.m. We took the remaining few hundred kilograms from the company car and put them into our garage, and two days later I gave the food - with the help of my mother - to people with animals in Vienna, who obviously needed it quite as much.

The distribution of fodder was a lot of fun and brought much joy to people. Sometimes it was difficult to distinguish who was more happy, the humans or the animals. Many people were skeptical about the fact they got something without paying, but most of them were happy and very grateful. I am already looking forward to a repetition of this good deed that gave us a really good feeling.
