Recently, we from 'Animal Protection concerns us all!' went into Slowakia again for a charity tour to Komarno. There, we visited the Útulok Dunajka dog shelter which Mrs. Agnes still serves with dedication. At the moment Mrs. Agnes and her volunteer helpers provide for 40 dogs and 8 puppies. The home is in a very neat condition. Furthermore, it is truly amazing that every dog is accessible and friendly. The individual kennels are occupied by two or three animals. The animals are frequently released in the courtyard and in the adjacent run-out area. This kind of care prevents a socially disturbed dog behavior. In this way, every animal can be recommended for placement with the best conscience.

Unfortunately, the situation in Komarno is in line with other animal shelters. Dogs are easily acquired while the owners underestimate the amount of time needed to care for such a living animal. Also, family changes or changes of residence are often taken as a reason to get rid of the animal.

Fortunately, the animals are not all "just" abandoned. Some owners have a little sense of responsibility and give the dogs to Mrs. Agnes. Very rarely, people try to find a new place for Bailey by networking.

After convincing ourselves on the spot that donations are neccessary and are managed properly, we wre happy to be able to donate about 250 kgs. of dog food and 500 Euros to Mrs. Agnes.
