We've done a lot ...
but there's so much more to be done!
The heaviest rains measured in the last 120 years had shaken these areas. In some regions, up to 150 liters of rain per square meter had fallen. The people in Bosnia-Herzegovina were surprised overnight. The flood had also carried away tens of thousands of livestock and domestic animals. The animals who had survived the floods were still threatened by death.
Many people had to leave their animals behind. In the stables, the pigs, cows and sheep threatened to starve. As the temperature increased, plague was caused by animal carcasses. Contaminated water threatened to lead to diseases such as typhoid or hepatitis. Of course, the animals were just as dependent on help. Animal welfare organizations had set up mobile stations to ensure the first-time supply of livestock. Animal welfare officers of 'Animal Protection concerns us all!' were on site as well. We have again contributed to the idea of 'Animal protection must not stop at the border'.
